A recurrent theme of the series is Veronica (Kristen Bell) asking Keith (Enrico Colantoni) for a pony. In episode 1.7, Veronica Mars: The Girl Next Door (2004), when Keith proposes to do what normal fathers & daughters do, Veronica asks, "Buy me a pony?" Then, In episode 2.10, Veronica Mars: One Angry Veronica (2005), she asks if there's a pony among her Christmas presents, and finally, in episode 2.22 Veronica Mars: Not Pictured (2006), when Keith gives her an envelope for a graduation present she again asks if it's a pony. In the 4th season (2019) Veronica's dog is called Pony.
