Both the visual design of the Moose, and Chappie Scout 22's voice may be obvious references to the similar movie "Robocop", and its related story universe. Moose looks vaguely like an ED-209, and the Scout's voice sounds like Peter Weller. There are also other blatant parallels between both stories concepts and settings.
