The scene where so much is made out of Kit being removed from the game seems very odd to 1992 audiences when teams all have dedicated relievers and starters usually only pitch around six innings. However, in 1943 starters were expected to finish, and being removed from the game was considered a bad thing. This would be especially notable on a team with only 16 players.
