When Barnabas is walking through the forest to Collnsport, having just been released from his coffin, he comes upon a paved road and hesitates. He reaches out with a foot to make sure this unknown surface can support him. This is an Homage to Hocus Pocus, where the three newly released witches see a paved road for the first time and wonder aloud if it's liquid, which Sarah Jessica Parker tests by holding her breath and "diving onto" feet first.
