In the backstage scene before the Brady kids perform in the Search for the Stars contest, when Holly kisses Peter and his voice changes, he states, "I think you're Ginger and Mary Ann combined". This is in reference to the characters of actress Ginger Grant and farm girl Mary Ann Summers from Gilligan's Island, a TV series also created by Sherwood Schwartz, who co-wrote this film.
