This is the only filmed version of the Ian Fleming novel "Moonraker". There was a plan in 1956 to film it, but this came to nothing. A 1956 movie was reported to have been discovered in 2004, but this was an April Fool's Day hoax. In the joke, Sir Dirk Bogarde was James Bond, Orson Welles was Hugo Drax, and Peter Lorre was a henchman. A South African radio dramatization in 1956 to 1957 featured Bob Holness as the voice of James Bond. Holness was technically the second actor to play James Bond in audio-visual media, and the first to play him on radio.
