Chris Sanders has said that he originally wanted the whole film to be animated, but due to problems going on at 20th Century Fox including News Corporation selling them to Disney. Budgets were cut, and one of the original producers of this movie was replaced with a new producer, so he was forced to make it a live action/animation hybrid movie.
