The novel "They Do It with Mirrors" (1952) revealed that Miss Marple was educated in Italy, attending a finishing school (charm school) there. The American characters Ruth Van Rydock and Caroline "Carrie" Louise Serrocold from this novel are her former schoolmates from Italy.
