A "Conan" sequel was abandoned when this film did poorly at the box office. In 2012 'The Legend of Conan' was announced which would have starred, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who played Conan in the original Conan il barbaro (1982), and would have returned in the role of Conan in this direct sequel to the 1982 film. However the project ran into many issues and was canceled in 2017. Currently Netflix is developing a Conan the Barbarian live-action TV-show.
