Raj Kapoor originally wanted Nimmi's name as Kinny.But Baby Tabassum who was present on the sets started crying as Raj Kapoor always told Baby Tabassum's parents that they should have named their daughter Baby Kinny.Hence Raj Kapoor changed the name to Nimmi and Kinny remains pet name of Baby Tabassum.
