It was rumored that Cate Blanchett was originally the voice of Mrs. Fox, but was replaced by Meryl Streep. According to Wes Anderson, however, he had spoken to Blanchett about the part around the time of filming Le avventure acquatiche di Steve Zissou (2004), but never got further than that: "I think that was on the Internet before it was really meant to be. For a long time there were versions of the cast out there that were not very accurate."
