The author of the Dark Materials novels, Philip Pullman, has on many occasions been savagely critical of the Narnia fantasy series by C.S. Lewis. Actor James McAvoy played the faun Mr. Tumnus in Le cronache di Narnia - Il leone, la strega e l'armadio (2005) as well as the character of Lord Asriel in this series.
