The grenade launcher that Hemsworth uses in the final act is an M79 grenade launcher that first entered service during the Vietnam war, it was used by Australians and Americans as a primary weapon. It was abandoned for use a short time after underslung grenade launchers became popular. Since the war on terror it has regained its relevance with special forces favouring it in a cut down manner as seen in the movie. The butt is removed and the barrel cut back. DevGru refer to it as a 'Pirate Gun' as it looks like a comical pirates pistol. Australians have always referred to it as a wombat gun.
