According to the DVD commentary, Colonel Stevens (Robert Joy) was originally written as Garber (Adam Baldwin) from Predator 2 (1990), who was part of an FBI team that knew of the existence of the Predator race, and wanted to obtain one for its advanced technology. When Baldwin couldn't be scheduled, the character was changed to Colonel Stevens.
