A closing scene has Eddie and Venom on an island together. This appears to be a tribute to a 1990 storyline where Venom, wrongly believing he'd killed Spider-Man, briefly lives on a deserted island. Cletus tells Eddie that he's "a cancer to everyone who ever loved you" during his "The Reason You Suck" Speech. Eddie actually had cancer in the comics, which the Venom symbiote then cured him of.
