Two of the Turtles' actors - Alan Ritchson (Raphael) and Noel Fisher (Michelangelo) - had previously played superhumans with similar attributes. Ritchson had previously portrayed Arthur Curry/Aquaman in Smallville (2001); both heroes are of an aquatic nature. Fisher had previously portrayed Mortimer Toynbee/Toad in X-Men: Evolution (2000); both are characters of an amphibious nature (Toad is a villain though in contrast to Michelangelo).
