A planned remake was announced in 2008 when the rights were snapped up by producer Michael De Luca. De Luca declared they would be going back to the original novel Falling Angel, which he hailed as "a great blend of genres," noting its "compelling, universal themes" and "literary and commercial appeal." As of July 1, 2021, production still hadn't started.
