The very first character you see is Annie (Lenora Crichlow). Coincidentally, Annie is also the last of the original three to leave the show. Mitchell (Aidan Turner) dies at the end of season 3 and George (Russell Tovey) dies in the season 4 premiere; whereas Annie survives until the season 4 finale.
