The rights to the 1993 stage sequel, "Annie Warbucks," were purchased by Sony Pictures. The play finds a child welfare worker informing Daddy Warbucks that he has sixty days to marry or he'll have to return Annie to the orphanage. Naturally, Grace Farrell is the most eligible bride. More than a decade had passed since the movie, the play was not the smash-hit that the original had been (and it's since been largely forgotten), so the project was eventually abandoned.
