This film features Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, while Disney's live-action film featured Ben Kingsley as Bagheera. Between the two of them, Cumberbatch and Kingsley have portrayed Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, on Sherlock and in Without a Clue, respectively. Rudyard Kipling was friends with Dr. Joseph Bell, and was the first to recognize that Holmes was modeled after him.
