The film is regarded as one of the biggest box office flops of all time. Indeed, Jason Isaacs remarked in an interview with The Observer in 2018 that he was initially told the film was going to be gigantic, and it would change his life. But when it came out, it turned out to be, in his own words, a "catastrophic flop". Isaacs believes that it killed his film career "stone dead for a while".
