Showrunner Elisa Rothstein said that when she started, she invited 30 female writers to the Playboy offices to brainstorm story ideas. On the same day, Playboy was holding casting calls for their videos. So when she went out to get the writers for her meeting, the waiting room was packed. On one side were about several women under the age of 20, wearing incredibly short dresses and high heels with tattoos on various parts of their bodies. On the other side were all these radical, intellectual, feminist filmmakers in black leather. She thought it was hilarious.
