Jasmin Savoy-Brown's character Mindy marks the first officially confirmed LGBTQIA+ character in the Scream film series. The possible queer sexual orientation of previous characters from the series, such as Stu Macher, from the original film, and Robbie Mercer, from Scream 4, is still ambiguous. Stu has never been confirmed as anything but heterosexual, and Robbie's proclamation of being gay to Ghostface was done in a desperate attempt to save his own life.
