Throughout the entire series there is a detective named Dobson that's name is constantly used but never shown. In the final episode Detective Dobson is shown to be Val Kilmer. This is a homage to Shawn's love of the movie Real Genius, as quoted by Henry Spencer. Shawn Spencer also name drops Val Kilmer in multiple episodes.
