The original U.S. release date for this film was November 26, 2014, but was pushed back to March 27, 2015, switching places with I pinguini di Madagascar: Il film (2014). The reason was that as I pinguini di Madagascar: Il film (2014) was derived from a successful, preexisting brand, DreamWorks Animation felt it would probably do better in the competitive Thanksgiving market than a new IP like Home - A casa (2015).
