The movie was shot in three main places: Namibia, South Africa, and Australia. Most of the outdoor shots were done first in the desert in Namibia, then the production moved to Cape Town, South Africa to do many of the interior shots, and finally the outdoor scenes at the beginning and end of the movie at the Citadel were done in Australia.
