According to the Official Illustrated Screenplay, Lily the poodle would have sprung back to life after the Hulk smashed her through Betty's windshield, partially closed her jaws around Betty, injuring her slightly before dying. The Hulk mashes Lily's face flat against the windscreen in the novelization. She returns from the brink of death and lunges at Betty through the glass in a final attack, but Betty yanks on her seat release in the nick of time as Lily's jaws close just above her before the dead dog melts away. After Bruce opens her door, Betty partially staggers out of her car and sees some blood smear on him before realizing it's hers, from cuts from the broken glass and Lily's claws.
