D.J. Cotrona, who plays Pedro's super form, is the third actor from G.I. Joe - La vendetta (2013) (where he played Flint) to be cast as a Shazam-empowered magical being; the previous two are Arnold Vosloo (who played Zartan and Black Adam in Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam (2010)) and Dwayne Johnson (who played Roadblock and Black Adam, though Adam would make his debut in his own film later on).
