Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg had initially expected to be inundated with viewer complaints about the abortion issue in episode Jessica Jones: A.K.A. You're a Winner! (2015), but instead was horrified to receive scathing condemnation for the series portrayal of a sexual relationship between a white woman and a black man - Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Rosenberg recounted to The Hollywood Reporter's Lacey Rose that her picture even ended up on a hate site that targeted her because she is Jewish, which she said was a particularly scary moment for her.
