Ed (Matthew McConaughey) is seen wearing a Houston Oilers jacket. In 1998, the Oilers relocated from Houston, TX to Memphis, TN and became the Tennessee Oilers. They then officially became the Tennessee Titans following the release of this film, and would soon after compete against the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV. (The Rams defeated the Titans 23-16.)
