In the comics, a speedster named Malcolm Thawne was Barry Allen's twin brother and is trying to kill him. Malcolm also happens to be an ancestor of Eobard Thawne a.k.a. The Reverse Flash, who is Barry's arch nemesis in the comic books and big-bad of the show's first season.
