Christopher Lambert was instrumental in getting the series developed. He had heard Peter S. Davis and William N. Panzer expressing an interest in developing a Highlander television series and arranged a meeting between them and some TV executives from France during the Cannes film festival in 1991. After negotiations went through, the series entered development.
