As part of the promotion campaign of the film, there was a Japanese folktale released that described the Turtles and Shredder as supernatural creatures and guardians (inspired by Tartarughe Ninja (2003)'s Tengu Shredder and Tartarughe Ninja III (1993)). In homage to this, Eric Sacks holds up a scroll with the word "kappa" on that.
