Two new types of Machine would've appeared in the approach to the Machine City, but were written or edited out. "The Keep" was a living machine tower with whip-like directed energy weapons that Neo would have battled using his connection to the Source, but its scene would have disrupted the pace of the journey to the City and was deleted. The Surface Sentinel or Super Sentinel was an enormous upgrade bristling with weapons that guarded the surface world, but the script called for it to crash through the hovercraft and its size made this awkward. Fairly conventional Sentinels were therefore used, but look closely and these are a noticeably burlier and "meaner" version.
