Danny Reagan's wife Linda died off-screen after the end of season seven and prior to season eight in a medical helicopter accident due to that Amy Carlson's contract ended and it wasn't renewed. Eventually, in Blue Bloods: Playing with Fire (2018) Danny learns that a Mexican cartel's hitman named Louis Delgado was the responsible to burn his house in Blue Bloods: The Thin Blue Line (2017) as retaliation by Danny's seizure of a cartel's shipment of several million dollars in The Thin Blue Line. Finally, in Blue Bloods: Common Enemies (2019) it's revealed that the helicopter accident was on purpose and her death was ordered by Mexican drug-lord cartel Jose "The Clam" Rojas (he also gave order to burn Danny's house) after Danny's investigation.
