Another of the Wendigo's victims is the local school principal Ellen Booth (played by Amy Madigan) who makes the mistake of going to check on young Lucas. The brutal Wendigo attack on Booth was handled with straight makeup by the on-set makeup artists. The LSFX team was responsible for constructing Principal Booth's corpse. Miller says, "The shop built that. One of our painters that works at LSFX is probably the best in the city. She's incredible. Bronwyne Sloley. You may have recognized her work on the Natalia alien in Star Trek Beyond, the one with the big seashell swirls. She painted that." Miller continues discussing the prop. "She painted the body and it was handed over to me. I placed it in the attic, how they wanted it to be posed." Scott Cooper decided that a flashlight playing across the corpse was washing out the paint job, so Miller touched it up a bit while the director watched on a monitor. "I was on radio and I just started painting. And I said over the radio, 'Scott, tell me when to stop.'" Miller punched up the bruising and marbling effects, adding intense purples, browns, and blues. "That's the only contribution I have with that body. Otherwise, that's all [the crew] at LSFX."
