It was stated earlier that Barney Miller wore his service revolver on his right hip while noting that Hal Linden appears to be right handed. However, if you look at the location, it is not on his right side but around his right side closer to his back. This position would make it very difficult to draw with his right hand, but in a perfect position to grab the revolver with his left hand by simply reaching behind his back. This actual technique is called Behind-the-Back Concealment. In season one: Experience Barney draws his pistol with his right hand.
