Writer-director Zach Helm has commented on the use of this movie in Breaking Bad - Reazioni collaterali: Granite State (2013). In the show, lead character Walter White hides out in a remote cabin where the only source of entertainment is two DVDs of this film. Helm responded to this reference by saying, "Having myself endured the ignominy of watching the Technicolor train-wreck that is 'Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium' multiple times every day for over a year, I can attest to it being the perfect Kafkaesque Hell for a character of such moral ambiguity as Walter White." He added that the most unbelievable element of the film's use in Breaking Bad was the idea that somebody would own two copies on DVD, saying "That is exactly two more copies than are allowed in my house."
