From launch in 1988 until 1996, the show was filmed in a small studio overlooking the Albert Dock in Liverpool. The location meant that passers-by could see the hosts and guests, which often led to people gathering outside the studio. In 1996, production moved to London in an attempt to attract A-lister guests, as Liverpool was often too far for them to travel to, though the show did return to Liverpool in 2013 for the 25th anniversary episode.
