As the film progresses Dumbledore gets weaker and his voice gets more hoarse. This is due to the curse from the ring taking it's toll on Dumbledore as Snape did warn the curse could only be contained on a temporary basis. This would explain why Dumbledore wanted Snape to kill him, to save him pain as well as protect Draco Malfoy.
