It was during this period, when Lucy starred on this show, that she greenlit Star Trek (1966). In a recent Emmy TV Legends interview Lucie Arnaz said that this was one of the best decisions she made as president of Desilu. And indeed, it is because of Lucy's decision to greenlight the show that it became one of the most successful tv franchises in Hollywood history, with two first-run spinoffs, Star Trek Discovery, and Picard, airing over 50 years later.
