Stephanie Beatriz (Mirabel) and Olga Merediz (singing voice of Abuela) previously appeared in Sognando a New York - In the Heights (2021), another Lin-Manuel Miranda musical and The Light of the Moon (2017). They also play daughter and mother on Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013) (a show on which Miranda also once guest starred).
