Sully is allowed a 35 second delay before the simulation pilots make their turn: during the events (as depicted in the movie) it took 17 seconds between the bird impact and Sully saying "both engines rolling back", 25 seconds to try an ignition start, 31 seconds for him to start the AVPU and 53 seconds to decide they needed to "turn back". He made the decision to land in the Hudson river 86 seconds after the bird impact and landing approximately within 5 minutes and 15 seconds (315 seconds).
