The name of Rogue Squadron, the group of pilots led by Luke Skywalker at the Battle of Hoth, is retroactively revealed to be inspired by Jyn's team, which chose the name "Rogue One" as its call sign. During the original trilogy, the call sign Rogue One is never used. Due to the tragic events of this movie, it can be assumed that the call sign has been retired out of respect for the heroes.
