In the live 30th anniversary broadcast, it was revealed Bobby Beale murdered his half-sister Lucy and Bobby's parents Ian and Jane decided to cover up the truth behind Lucy's murder to protect Bobby and stop him from going to prison and later, Max Branning was wrongly arrested and imprisoned for the crime. By doing this, Ian and Jane have perverted the course of justice and if it was discovered Ian and Bobby covered up the truth about the crime. Both Ian and Jane could do 3 - 4 years in prison for that offense.
