Throughout production of the series, Gary Coleman suffered from kidney ailments. Coleman would have to perform self medical treatments on his kidneys just off set during breaks. Coleman was also forced to miss some episodes to undergo advanced kidney treatments which required his hospitalization and subsequent recovery.
