Although he later relented and found the role "fun", Gene Hackman admitted in Wogan: Episode #6.130 (1986) that he didn't like his acting in the film, and felt that he'd chosen money over art, admitting that he gave up acting as a result: "I did quit for two years, and then when I wanted to come back to work it took a long time to get a job."
