Show creator Eric Kripke is a big fan of classic rock, and thus wanted it to be played on the show. He wrote in the pages of the pilot script "CUE MUSIC And you can take your anemic alternative pop and shove it up your ass. Dean plays bass thumping, pile driving (Led Zeppelin), and he plays it loud."
