Michael Phelps, Daniel Dae Kim, Brian Tee, Dwayne Johnson and David Boreanaz were all considered for Namor. Before being cast as Shang-Chi, Simu Liu commented back in a 2018 Q&A that he was interested in playing either Sunfire or Namor the Sub-Mariner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
