Sab Shimono, who plays Hiroshi Kawamura, was actually interned with his family when he was a small child; they were incarcerated at the Tule Lake War Relocation Center and the Granada War Relocation Center. Tamlyn Tomita (Lily Yuriko Kawamura) was born after the end of World War II, but her father had been interned during the war.
